While weeding certificate is a strong case for self-determination theory, but to keep analysis engaging, I will discuss other episode to deepen understanding of Chiikawa's world.

Chiikawa (they/them) is heading to a popular ramen shop with their best friend Hachiware. Before going in, they feel too anxious to enter.

Sensing this, Hachiware suggests they practice together: they look up the menu online, model an ordering script, and rehearse how to speak to the staff of the shop at home. This encouragement supported Chiikawa to build autonomy (i.e., do some practice) and build competence through low-stakes rehearsal and practice. Hachiware's steady companionships also support Chiikawa's relatedness. Even though ordering is easy for Hachiware, they still rehearse alongside Chiikawa, so the situation feels safe enough for intrinsic motivation to re-emerge.

After practice, they enter the ramen shop. Chiikawa remain anxious while waiting to be seated.

When the staff ask, "would you like garlic on your ramen?", Chiikawa hesitate even they practice this question before. Hachiware gently prompt them, and the interaction goes smoothly.

By the end of the meal, Chiikawa say they want to explore this ramen shop again next time. This provides the evidence that competence, autonomy and relatedness were supported well enough to sustain and strength their motivation.
