FEELING EMBARRASSED IS OKAY! 😳❤️
Chiikawa (they/them) are timid and lives in an unreasonably harsh world where everyday life involves monster hunting and difficult odd jobs. Unlike confident characters like Usagi or analytical characters like Hachiware, Chiikawa often interprets situations through self-evaluation, worrying about being a burden, wanting to be liked, and hoping to contribute meaningfully to their friends and community. Because of this personality and the harshness of the world they live in, self-conscious emotions such as embarrassment, guilt, shame, and sometimes pride appear frequently in Chiikawa’s emotional life.
Chiikawa experiences embarrassment after accidentally burning the pancakes they were cooking. Chiikawa’s reaction focuses on how others will see the mistake. They lower their head, hesitate to show the plate, and worry about others’ reactions.
This emotion is best explained through the appraisal that the mistake is internal (“I made the error”) but also temporary and controllable (“I can fix it next time”). Because no one was harmed, the emotion is not guilt. And because Chiikawa does not believe the failure reflects their entire self-worth, it is not shame. Instead, the feeling is embarrassment, triggered by social exposure and the desire to be seen positively by friends.
After receiving Usagi’s companionship and encouragement, Chiikawa’s perceived control rises, the embarrassment fades, and motivation shifts toward constructive repairtry.
